Hitting the gym is important and having the right attire can be equally important for some, like myself, who are slightly on the vain side. We spend a reasonable amount of money on our day-to-day wardrobe, so why are we quick to throw on our old, holey tee and faded shorts when it comes time to reinvent our bodies?
Nowadays there are articles of clothing that not only look good aesthetically but can boost your self-esteem while you put in work at the gym. Ladies, how many times do we put on those bosom flattening sports bras that are unflattering and only make us feel frumpy? Countless. Well there are options to choose from that can enhance that area, leaving you to feel like a sexy, Bionic Woman while pumping iron. Champion makes a T-back sports bra (the Champion Shape T-Back )that I love because it maintains the shape for the chest without feeling uncomfortable. Though I purchased mine at Target at a fairly inexpensive price, you can visit their website for more options, www.ChampionUSA.com.
Shape Magazine (www.shape.com) offers useful advice on selecting workout clothes that are also essential to certain activities. You don’t want to step into a yoga class with baggy clothes, as it could be difficult to maintain your “Downward Facing Dog” or “Eagle” stances. However in the same breath, tight, form-fitting clothing could cause chaffing or slight breakouts on the skin so it is important to choose clothes that wicks away the moisture and keeps you dry. My place for fitness shopping is Marshall’s; they have designer workout clothes for less!
Here are some of the latest fashions:
• EasyTone sneakers by Reebok. Designed to enhance your rear end & your legs with every step you take! The sole’s round “pods” as they’re called, make your muscles work harder because they’re unstable. Sneakers are currently available at Lady Foot Locker.
• Nike+ Shoes and Accessories. Nike offers shoes that integrate technology as well. Purchase a pair of stylish “Nike+” sneakers & begin tracking your pace, calories burned and mileage on either your Nike + Sportband watch or on your iPod! (An online tracking program comes with the accessories).
• Wrist Bands. Get fun, bright colors to enhance your workout.
• Headbands. Those measly strands of hair will no longer irritate your eyes or get in the way, if they’re pushed back with a thin, colorful headband! The color selection is vast & will undoubtedly match your workout attire.
•Match. Well…this is more so advice than an actual fashion trend! You don’t have to spend hours preparing to sweat & burn calories, but I challenge you to find tops and bottoms that match and most importantly, compliment your body type.
Whether your workout regimen is on the weekends or following long, strenuous workdays, gone are the days of throwing on your old family reunion Tee-shirt and pathetic shorts. Spice it up this fall with colors and patterns! Take a look around; workout clothes are no longer boring and they can be found just about everywhere at decent prices. I can also guarantee that if you look good at the gym, you will feel motivated to make each session be beneficial to you!
Til Next Time…
