Keeping fit for the holidays! (November '09 Issue)

The holidays are coming! I love this time of year when families get together to share in their love for one another. Cousins, aunts and uncles journey from afar bearing gifts and smiles. Even though I prefer the warmth, I have grown appreciative of autumn because of the less smoldering climate and astonishingly colorful scenery. Though not traditionally a fan of turtlenecks and gloves, I do adore bundling up and getting cozy with those I love.

Like my family. For me, I come from a rich culture of cuisine and camaraderie. Around the holidays, we gather around the dinner table, coffee table or wherever, and we eat together, chat and debate issues or simply discuss the day-to-day. We watch movies, we play cards, and we usually do these things in excess around the holidays. All while eating. Eating foods that are oh so yummy but oh so fattening! Here are some gift ideas for the holidays that can be used to keep you and your loved ones fit throughout the holidays!

Relaxation & Celebration! (October '09 Issue)

The weekends are quite typically designated for celebration & relaxation. The “celebrating” comes into play for specific reasons like birthdays, anniversaries, paydays, holidays, the list goes on and on. Sometimes there isn’t a reason at all, just a pure celebration of life! The “relaxing” comes into play for many reasons as well but sometimes it becomes the necessary ingredient as a product of celebrating (also known as partying), and not only as the weekend’s main goal. What better place to relax than at a spa?

Oasis Day Spa is one of my favorites. It is located off of 7th Street in Elizabeth, and just a hop, skip and a jump from Uptown.

Fitness Fashions (September '09 article)

Hitting the gym is important and having the right attire can be equally important for some, like myself, who are slightly on the vain side. We spend a reasonable amount of money on our day-to-day wardrobe, so why are we quick to throw on our old, holey tee and faded shorts when it comes time to reinvent our bodies?

Nowadays there are articles of clothing that not only look good aesthetically but can boost your self-esteem while you put in work at the gym. Ladies, how many times do we put on those bosom flattening sports bras that are unflattering and only make us feel frumpy? Countless. Well there are options to choose from that can enhance that area, leaving you to feel like a sexy, Bionic Woman while pumping iron. Champion makes a T-back sports bra (the Champion Shape T-Back )that I love because it maintains the shape for the chest without feeling uncomfortable. Though I purchased mine at Target at a fairly inexpensive price, you can visit their website for more options, www.ChampionUSA.com.
